Privacy Policy – DataGen (ObserveNow)

Effective Date: 1 December 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how DataGen, a product of ObserveNow, collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects information in connection with the DataGen web application, Chrome extension and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Scope

This policy applies to information collected through the Service, including data you provide directly, data obtained from public online sources (for example public LinkedIn profile fields), data generated by your use of the Service, and technical data collected automatically from devices used to access the Service.

2. Information We Collect

  • Profile & Contact Data: public LinkedIn profile fields such as name, current job title, company, location, publicly visible email addresses, and other public profile details you view and choose to enrich using DataGen.
  • User-Provided Data: account registration details (business name, business email), payment and billing information (processed by our payment provider), preferences, and support communications.
  • Enriched Data Outputs: phone numbers, verified work/personal emails, firmographic data and any derived contact records produced by the Service after enrichment.
  • Technical & Usage Data: browser type and version, device information, IP address (anonymized where possible), interaction logs, extension permissions and usage telemetry necessary to operate and secure the Service.

We do not collect passwords or private messages from third-party services. We collect only the data needed to provide the Service and the enrichment outputs you request.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide, operate and maintain the Service, including enrichment, search and export functions.
  • To verify and improve data quality, perform deduplication, enrichment matching and validation.
  • To communicate with you about account, billing, updates and support requests.
  • To detect, prevent and respond to security incidents, abuse, fraud and other illegal activity.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve features, reliability and performance.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal Basis

Where applicable, we rely on one or more lawful bases to process personal data, including (a) your consent when you opt into data enrichment, (b) performance of our contract with you to provide the Service, (c) legitimate interests such as operating and improving the Service and preventing fraud, and (d) compliance with legal obligations. When required by law, we will obtain consent for specific processing activities.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We may share information with:

  • Service Providers: trusted vendors who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, payment processing, email delivery). These providers are contractually restricted from using information for other purposes.
  • Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • Legal Process: to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or protect our rights, safety and property.

We do not sell personal data. We limit disclosures and require third parties to implement appropriate security and confidentiality measures.

6. Chrome Extension Permissions

To enable enrichment, the DataGen Chrome extension requests the minimum permissions required to function. Typical permissions include:

  • activeTab / scripting: to read the current page's public profile fields and perform enrichment when you activate the extension.
  • storage: to store user preferences and cached settings locally.
  • tabs: to read URL information where required to operate the extension.

Permissions are used solely to support the feature you initiate. You can remove the extension or revoke permissions at any time via your browser settings.

7. Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose; we apply regular review and deletion policies to minimize retention.

8. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. Examples include access controls, encryption in transit, secure storage practices, and periodic security reviews. While we strive to protect your data, no system is completely secure—if a security incident affects your data we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

  • Access to personal data we hold about you
  • Correction or update of inaccurate data
  • Deletion of personal data (subject to legal or contractual retention requirements)
  • Restriction or objection to processing for direct marketing or profiling
  • Data portability where applicable

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@observenow.ai. We will verify requests and respond within a reasonable timeframe required by law.
